Auto Baughn Racing started in 2004 after Don (dad)
and Ray (son) decided
that driving an oval dirt-track car would be more fun than watching in
the
stands. We found that driving a car isn't even close to what
we
expected – it’s faster and more exciting. We also didn’t realize
beforehand how much time, effort, and money it takes to be
competitive.
In addition to the actual racing part of the venture, there is the
business side. Given that Ray has a business degree (Washington State
University, 1995) and works in the marketing industry, this side of
the fence seems as fast and exciting as driving. Ray continues to look
for business partners to explore opportunities.
The mechanic of our crew is Don. He
has put many hours into building and
tuning the car. The car performs well because of the enormous time
commitment and focus he has put into it. We should also mention
the great help we’ve gotten from other racers and engine builders.
And, of
course, we appreciate our families’ patience and understanding.
